Artist Statement

Nova

My art work is was painted with acrylic paint I used a mixture of yellow blue and grey to create my piece. My piece is a yellow nova that is foreshortened and it had a lot of detail and a blue background with white streaks .When i made my piece i first sketched it to how i wanted it. Then i got my finial piece and started to draw the nova on the canvas. When i finished i began to put down the blue background and the white streaks. After that i started to paint the car and finish up the detail.

The big idea was inspired by myself. I love anything that goes fast or mechanical and i felt like that most of my pieces have been car related to i felt that i should move in and continue with my interest.

Since this was my first time with doing Foreshortening my big goal was to actually make the car to be foreshortened and to have as much detail ass possible. But i do feel like i have met my goal.

I feel like i have met my goal and i have learned a lot with this. sometimes you have to move and turn your work around to get a different perspective because the lines can look funny and they can mess you up. this piece will influence my by wanting to do more car or farming related pieces.

Farm Life

Industrialism  Tractor

Clay Bowl

My piece is a clay basket. I used clay for this piece and was able to show value through the texture and detail. It had coils going in and out with a smooth texture that i made.

With my piece i used coils to build up from the bottom. When the bowl got to the leather hard stage i was able to cut into it, I then proceeded to weave the coils in and out like a basket. When I finished i put my texture on it and smoothed out the rough edges and called it quits. My art piece was inspired by my heritage. My family comes from a long line of Cherokee Indians. Back then they had to weave their own baskets or make things out of clay. I just wanted to kinda connect and do a little bit of both and do like my ancestors.

My goal was to build something pretty big. I've never done anything this big before and i really wanted to be successful with it being structurally sound and a generally good piece.

I learned that with a piece this big you have to keep it wet do it doesn't dry up. Another thing i learned was that after you add a coil or anything else you have to blend it in or smooth it out or wit will dry up fast and it wont smooth out right and it will be ruined.

My piece is an all metal tractor i used gears valves and a cam all of my parts were from a car motor. The name of my piece is "industrialism" and i have value and texture.

My piece is all metal so i had to get all the pieces from an old motor then i cut them all to fit then i realized couldn't just glue it or bolt it together i had to cut,fit and weld all of my sculpture together then i had my tractor.

Yeah i do like tractors but my big idea was behind industrialism because it is always becoming better and faster and the economy is making more money off of it. It relates to the tractor because it has evolves the same way.

My goals were to have it as detailed as possible and to make it good and strong but overall i felt that i met that because...well you'll just have to see.

I learned a lot throughout this project and i would say that it is exactly what i imagined i felt like i did a good job with it and i think that it will influence me more because i want to do more metal sculptures.

Ink Tires

My piece is is an oil pastel horse. my piece is called "farm life" and i used oil pastels to create this piece.   I first started out with practicing with the pastels and learning how to bled them. Next i drew the horse out in pencil. Then i first put down light colors to darker colors, when i had it all down i went back with a heavy blend and finished my piece.   When i did my piece i was inspired by a farm i love all the animals and the lifestyle of living of a farm and i really wanted to express my love for it.   My goal was to make it as realistic as possible with the pastels, I've never used them before and i wanted to do my best.     I feel like i did ok but i think i could have done better.  I learned that you have to keep putting back down color and blending them all together.   i feel like my piece is most-likely how i imagined it but over all i think that i did good.

Mans Best Friend

My inspiration for this piece was to be able to show a dog as a best friend. As people would say a mans best friend is hid dog. I used expressionism it create this piece with bold thick lines to create contrast and value.

The process i used i first was able to map out the image and start with my background and get  good amount of coats. I then moved on to put down the base coat and start to put some color down and add contrast value. The piece came out successful and i was very pleased. now i can claim that I've done expressionism.

My piece is an all ink prorate of Nascar Goodyear tires when i was making this piece i was thinking how i can make it as real as possible and being able to make it  proportionate. Over all with my finished piece i felt like i did okay but with more practice with ink i feel like it can be 100 times better.

Soldiers

Ocean Sunset

With this piece i used artist paste to make my 3D ocean wave and sunset when the paste all dried i used acrylic paint to paint the water with detail and then went on to the sunset when i got finished i went back with detail and finished. Over all i feel like i did a good job with it and i feel lie i would like to use the artist paste again in the future.

This piece is an all charcoal piece of the soldiers putting up the flag when i was making this piece i was thinking of how i wanted to put color in and make the contrast. i didn't know where to put it. in the flag,in the background or what but i decided in the back i was also thinking about how to add detail to the men that were holding the flag i put some lines and some shadow then i felt finished over all i felt that i did good on this piece
